Regan Barry and Gregory Miller, judging forms in hand, ready to go and judge some San Francisco Bay landscapes.
The CLCA San Francisco Bay Area Chapter Calls Gregory Miller & Regan Barry to the Helm for Three Long Days of Achievement Awards Judging
Our very own Gregory Miller (Green & Growing) and Regan Barry (Coastal Evergreen Company) had the illustrious honor of being called to judge for the San Francisco Bay Area Chapter on May 17th, 18th & 19th. For three days the guys inspected forty-eight properties and covered over 500 miles around the peninsula. The jobs ranged in size and scope from various levels of maintenance to differing budget amounts of residential installation categories. Mornings started at 6:30 when the van picked them up and didn’t conclude until 6:30 at night.
Greg and Regan brought their knowledge and professional experience to each job, scrutinizing and scoring every entry. The guys were tough on each other too, making sure jobs aligned, and scores excelled, to meet their expectations. In the driver’s seat of the 2020 Toyota Sienna mini-van was Andrew Tuckman (SiteOne Landscape Supply) who was not only the chauffeur, but also navigator, caterer, and photographer for all three days. Andrew is a veteran of this type of work and a road warrior in his own right, so driving and multi-tasking came easy to him. After ten years of directing the awards show for the Central Coast chapter Andrew has changed gears and is now running the event for the San Francisco chapter. Andrew and the judging team managed to finish in time, select the winners, and send in the sealed envelope to the trophy center. From there, the plaques will be made and winners announced at Michael’s Shoreline on Saturday June 18th.
Thank you to Greg and Regan for their expert wisdom, their passion for quality landscapes, and their continued commitment to the green industry. The landscape community applauds them for their contribution to the Bay Area community.
Yep, Friday and 13th, but that didn’t stop some gregarious Central Coast members from venturing out to Beer Thirty for conversation, food, brews and companionship. John David and Terri Baker, our new membership director, were there along with about a dozen others. Elise Huffman, Central Coast newsletter editor, and her husband, Jeff Grubb were there in matching Hawaiian shirts., what’s with that?
It’s that time of year when you get a chance to shown your peers what you and your teams have been doing, creating beauty out there in the world of landscaping. Please join us this year and participate in this really uplifting and fun event. There are many categories to enter, and awards to win. It’s nice to get acknowledgement for the good work you do.
This year the process is a little different. We’re not judging on location. There will be unbiased, judges from another county, who will judge on digital imagery provided by you, jpgs, and videos will be gathered via thumb drives and compiled into a presentation, as well as allowing for off-site judging this year.
We hope that you’ll join us and send in your best work. We want to see it! Download the entry PDF here to see more details and information, including where to submit your entry.
Next month we have links for the big banquet and award presentation evening. Right now we want YOU to get ready to SHOW US YOUR BEST! Enter by July 1!
CLCA State Webinar —1 IA CEU
As California’s hotter summer months approach, policymakers throughout the state are implementing water restrictions. Attend this free industry webinar to learn what you need to know, right now.
Recently, the State Water Resources Control Board announced a statewide ban on watering “non-functional turf” on commercial and industrial properties. In addition to the proposed statewide ban, regional water districts and municipalities are considering even stricter restrictions on water usage to commercial and residential landscapes throughout California.
Landscape and irrigation professionals need to be informed about how these new restrictions will impact their business and their ability to service their customers.
Join a panel of experts for discussion on how landscape and irrigation contractors can best adapt to the restrictions while continuing to manage and maintain healthy green spaces.
