Friday, August 26th, 2022, Central Coast Chapter held our 36th Annual Beautification Awards Banquet. This much anticipated event was held at the Back Nine Bar & Grill at Pasatiempo Inn in Santa Cruz.
A special shout out to our event sponsors this year:
We started the evening with drinks and conversation while Jake Nielsen’s Triple Threat band played music which “blended blues, reggae, and rock into a blistering Santa Cruz sound.” The venue was decorated and watched over by our new events manager, Gregory Miller and his wife, Martha Miller. Great job guys! The evening continued with a wonderful meal and slide show, followed by awards and winning images to inspire everyone.
Terry Baker, our 2022 chapter membership director, from Graniterock gave the welcome address. There were opening remarks by Phil Dundas, chapter president. Thank you for stepping up and keeping our chapter focused and united. There are so many others to thank including the Awards Committee: Martha and Gregory Miller, Regan Barry, Andrew Tuckman, Chris Elliot, Ki Bowman, Elise Huffman and others. Andrew Tuckman from Site One Landscape was our evening's Emcee. He is a past president and continues to be a valuable contributor to our chapter.
Our Independent Landscape Judges this year were Gary Cooper of Frank & Grossman, and Tito Fonseca of New Path Landscape. Thank you!
Terry Baker and Andrew Tuckman were in charge of Judging Day coordination. Laura Leuer, CLCA administration director, created a slide presentation with Andrew Tuckman. Ki Bowman and Elise Huffman were in charge of the web advertising, promotion and the printed event programs.
We saw many familiar faces and it was so nice to be able to get together and do this event. There are too many names to identify everyone, but I hope that you will find yourself and our friends and colleagues here in this photo album. Thank you to all who generously shared their photos.
Justin White, K&D Landscaping, and immediate past president, reflected on this event “I didn’t think something so simple can have such a large impact but it really does. These types of events give us all a chance to hit the pause button for one day and soak up the beautiful work we all do."
