Community Workday Project at the Live Oak Grange

Community workday project at the Live Oak Grange at 1900 17th Avenue, Santa Cruz.
The Cabrillo College Horticulture Department, in collaboration with the California Landscape Contractors Association (CLCA) Central Coast Chapter and the Santa Cruz Live Oak Grange, is sponsoring an irrigation system installation workday in the heritage demonstration orchard at the Grange at 1900 17th Avenue, Santa Cruz on Saturday April 20. Students in the Irrigation Systems Design & Management course have designed a professional-grade drip irrigation system that will be installed to help the Grange maintain a beautiful and bountiful orchard while maximizing water-use efficiency. The system will accommodate approximately 36 fruit trees, including multiple varieties of apples, plums, citrus, persimmons, pears, and more. CLCA members will be volunteering labor, materials, and equipment to assist with the drip system installation. Ewing Irrigation and Netafim have also generously donated irrigation materials.
